How socio-emotional abilities are developed in the formal educational system

Socio-emotional skills are developed and learned with the context that surrounds the individual, and they are fundamental to the well-being of society (Aristulle, P.  & Paoloni-Stente, P. 2019). The increase of social and emotional abilities, such as perseverance, self-esteem and sociability, can have a significant effect on the enhancement of health, subjective well-being, as well as reducing anti-social behaviours (OECD, 2015).

Nowadays, socio-emotional skills have become an important focus in which education must take over and promote children and teenagers to open up to the world. Further, it is in this context, where these abilities are developed with more precision. According to the OECD (2015), the socioemotional skills are developed through formal and informal experiences of learning, thus, through socialising with peers and adults (considered significant for the individual), and in some circumstances, people can acquire a greater benefit in the process of getting these skills for life in society.
